Wrong micro is being used?

I have a laptop and a headset. I think, however, that my laptop does not want to take the micro from the headset. Can it be that the micro does not work at all because it is a laptop and not a PC and therefore only has 1 jack plug? And if I want to change that in the settings, only the 1 is displayed. Can help me

Then I threw it against the wall and then all of a sudden it went.
