Ebay classifieds, are they scammers?

I just put an ad online trying to sell my laptop for around 700 euro. Within 5 minutes after the ad was online, 5 people wrote to me who wanted to transfer the money to me immediately (sometimes more than I asked for) and all of them wanted me to send abroad (English-speaking countries) and all of them from accounts that were first exist since today or yesterday?

Can someone explain to me what their scam is?

Credit card fraud? Against it speaks that I was also offered to send the money by transfer.

Not giving out your data are definitely rip-offs. I only send within Germany.

If more is promised, it is definitely a scam.

Only accept: Money via transfer to your bank account. And ONLY send when the money is in your account! Don't get involved with any images of transfers or other opaque offers!

When the money is in your account, you send it as an insured package.

Po

Sure, but I'm interested in what the scam is. Transfer should actually be safe.

Po

So you mean they will just pretend they have paid in the hope that I will send the goods before the money is with me? Interesting theory, I can try it out

Br

Yes, that's how it works. Then a mail comes from an alleged bank that you should send. All lies and deceit.

A former work colleague almost fell for it. Unfortunately I can't say how it was exactly. I think that they first send a few messages back and forth to build trust, they also say that they transfer the money directly, which then doesn't work because of alleged technical problems. Then it was suggested to handle this through a supposed escrow service.

Some time ago it was the case that the money from abroad was first credited provisionally. Then it could happen that there was no cover from the payment account, then it was booked back again.

It is also possible that fraudsters carry out the payment from someone else's account. If that comes out, it will also be booked back.

With Ebay classifieds there's no security for the seller, since registration is anonymous.

You already know that EBKl is intended for direct goods for money, right?

Po

Thanks, the answer was helpful. And no, I don't think so. They even offer "shipping" as a "transfer method". By definition, no direct "goods for money" is possible.

su

Read again about shipping abroad: NO shipping abroad. Shipping is only an option because of Corona. Handover for cash is customary.
