Individual keys spin on laptop keyboard after water damage?

Hi, yesterday coffee spilled on my laptop keyboard (I know, very stupid yes). I turned off the laptop after about 1 minute and immediately tried to put everything away with a dry cloth.

Today: The laptop turns on normally. Almost all keys work perfectly. However, some are crazy. "AltGr" produces a strange Komi from "bn3-" instead of an @ or € sign, "-" does not work, "Del" also produces a confused combination and the left and right arrow keys do not work at all. I've already connected my external keyboard, then all keys worked fine!

What should I do about the spinning keys?

Either replace the keyboard or try to "dry" it.

Le

The best thing to do is to get a new keyboard or unscrew the one you have now and dry it again properly

Thank you for your prompt reply! So there's simply a new keyboard to install for the laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad)?

El

Thank you for your prompt reply! What exactly could dry out mean? Put in rice? Near the heater (or is that bad?)

Le

Yes either you send the laptop to be repaired or you order one somewhere they are not that expensive and the installation is not that difficult, there are also many instructions on youtube

OK thank you!

Remove and blow-dry with a hair dryer at a low temperature, or lay it on one not near the hot radiator.

Remove keyboard. After uncovering, check whether there are coffee residues under the keyboard and whether they have penetrated further there. With vodka I would try to save the keyboard by inserting it thinly overnight and then blowing it out with air and drying it well. Vodka dissolves better than alcohol. If it doesn't work then the circuit board may already have been attacked. Coffee was the case for me, but only after trying to clean the keyboard did I buy a new one for just under 40 euro.

Many thanks for your response. I have now removed all the parts inside. The keyboard is riveted from below. Is there anything else I can do?

Can you put them in a matching flat plastic lid or bowl? Then add vodka so at least 1 hip flask greetings at the Lidl checkout e.g. For about 1.05 euro Put the key surface down; Vodka over it. It doesn't matter if the keyboard is only half soaked from the vodka. I used a rubber blow bar for camera lenses to remove the dust with air, I used this as a vodka syringe and rinsed the keyboard several times over the perforations on the back. There's also a syringe from the pharmacy. It is more important to rinse with vodka instead of soaking it for a long time. Rinsing a lot helps a lot to rinse away the coffee residues first.

Hi, I would do it that way, but the keyboard is riveted to the housing so I can't get it out. Could I also change individual sensors (of individual buttons)?

Im

On my keyboard there were 4 screws to loosen at the top, after which it was also clipped out from below. I'm not aware of any laptop keyboard that could not be expanded as in the example video. You have to be able to change them if they are defective / worn out. Changing individual keys is associated with damage.

Many thanks for your response. My keyboard is riveted from below, but unfortunately I can't get it detached. Then I can't do anything more?

Model name would be fine, a photo too.
