I still have a Fujitsu Lifebook with Windows 7. It had been lying in a corner for the last few years and wasn't used. Now I wanted to put it back into operation, unfortunately I can't remember the password for the user, and I can't reset the password either. The computer is old, but I don't want to throw it away and buy a new one.
How can I get the laptop back into operation? I don't care about the data or the operating system, I want to load Windows 10 on it anyway.
When it comes to computers, I'm a dummy, I get on well with applications, but more in-depth interventions are not my thing.
You need at least the Windows product key (it may be on the bottom). Then you can use the https://go.microsoft.com/...kId=691209 to create an installation stick for Windows 10. Videos on Youtube and the vulture knows where to go, by the way.
Then prepare a USB stick with the installation data on another PC and then plug it into the laptop and make all hard drives flat
If, as you say, the data is not important to you and you want to install Windows 10, you can download the Microsoft Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 for free from another device: https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10
Run the program and follow all the steps. A DVD just downloads an ISO file that you need to burn. There's the option "Burn disk image" directly under Windows, if you right-click on the downloaded ISO file.
If you opt for a USB stick instead, you just have to follow all the steps and at the end you have a usable stick for the installation.
Then boot from the created installation medium by inserting the DVD into the drive or inserting the USB stick into one of your USB slots and then switching on your laptop. If your laptop starts up as usual, you have to change the boot sequence in the BIOS beforehand: https://praxistipps.chip.de/...ehts_10161
Then follow all steps of the installation process. Select Custom as the installation type and delete all existing partitions in the partition manager. Remember that everything will be deleted! If a partition is called "Recovery" or something like that, you don't have to delete it, but I guess you won't need it anymore, because it can only be used for Windows 7 anyway. I generally don't need them because I always do new installations using an installation medium.
At the end there should only be one entry with unallocated space. Possibly two, if two hard drives are installed. In such a case, select the desired hard drive for the installation.
You now go to "Next" at the bottom right, whereupon the installation begins. The rest is then self-explanatory.
After the reinstallation, you should first install all necessary or missing drivers and the latest Windows updates.
Another point would be activation. I'm not up to date as to whether you can still activate Windows 10 with a Windows 7 license, which was the case for a while. There should be a sticker with a Windows 7 Product Key somewhere on your laptop. With this you can then try to activate Windows 10.
If necessary, you can buy an OEM license for Windows 10 for a few euro and use it to activate Windows 10: https://www.mmoga.de/Software/Windows/
For your information, yes, you can use the win 7 product key for win 10 as long as it is the same device.
