Hide Who's Downloading Over Internet?

In my school we really have soo fast internet and I would like to download something with my computer because the internet is very long in my home. But they said that you will be punished if you download something on the Internet. And those who say they can trace that back to the laptop. Can I somehow hide that I download something?

Is this your private computer? If you can simply get into the network and no proxy is necessary then that's no problem. What you could do at most (if possible): bring your own laptop and thus go to the local Wi-Fi or directly to a LAN cable (could possibly work, depending on how the network is set up). But if there are no guest accounts or the accounts are person-related, you will not be able to download anything "secretly". This is not how the Internet works.

Even if he gets the "school IT" manipulated, it is still questionable whether a log / journal of network activities is written. In my opinion, he should keep his fingers away from it to prevent any trouble.
