Today by chance I found the Sims 4 DVD that I bought years ago and tried to install the game on my new PC. Origin is now set up (with the same account as back then), I have access to both installation DVD's (originally bought by me, were only used once on my old laptop) and the one enclosed slip of paper with details on the installation.
However, the slip of paper on which the product code was written has been lost. I couldn't find anything in my old emails either.
(Origin game library is shown to me as empty, except for Sims 4 I have never played anything from EA)
Is there any way to get the code again without having to buy the game again?
The game has to be activated and you can only do that once.
So you've already done this. Take a closer look at your library. It is probably hidden by a filter because it is not installed.
You can also have the key displayed again in the library, but you can't do anything with it anyway.
I would download the game directly for updates alone and not use the DVDs.
Where can I turn off the filter?
In the library where your games are listed there's a filter symbol in the upper right corner.

Go to the shop and check out Sims 4.
Are you really logged into the correct account?
In the shop I'm only offered to buy the game new - I would be surprised if the account does not fit because it goes through my main email address and I really only used it for Sims 4. So why should I have created a second account with a different email?
Usually the game has to be in the origin library if you have installed it once
If it is not there, reinstall origin
