I currently have my apartment monitored by my laptop in my absence and use a program on Windows that runs in the background and as soon as a movement takes place in the room, the webcam records a video.
But you can see that from the wise light / LED of the webcam.
Can you somehow completely turn this light off? The laptop should not be seen that it is on or that the camera is recording something.
No, the LED is controlled either directly with the camera or from the driver - just so that you can also see when software turns it on.
You could cut a piece of black electrical tape around and just tape the LED.
There are also Android apps that do the same - you just have to place a smartphone somewhere.
