I have been using Zoom for my studies for about 7 weeks. As of this week, however, Zoom no longer recognizes the webcam, before everything went smoothly. I have a Lenovo laptop (G50-80) with Windows 8.
I tried to update the camera driver, but according to Lenovo support there's currently no updated version and the driver should work normally. So theoretically it can't be a software problem.
In order to check whether there's a hardware problem, I tried to use the webcam in Skype. But the cam is not recognized here either. Since I have never used Skype on this laptop, it may also be because I have not yet allowed Skype to access the webcam. I tried to see if Skype has access to the camera (under the privacy settings on my laptop). However, there are only 5 apps, all of which can't access the camera. The other apps that are installed on the laptop are not there at all. Therefore I can't set whether they are allowed access or not.
So I have two questions:
Why is it that zoom suddenly no longer recognizes the camera after there have been no problems for weeks?
How do I allow Skype to access the webcam so I can check if the camera is still working?
Try zoom in Firefox from now it can in the browser
Maybe the webcam will be recognized there
Stay healthy
I have already tried this, unfortunately the webcam version is not recognized in the desktop version either.
To 1: Have you already checked the video settings to see if another camera is set? Maybe a taped laptop cam?
Regarding 2: I don't know, but you should be able to control the camera directly under Windows. Look in the system settings. With Win10 you land directly in the appropriate area by searching for "camera".
Yes, I've already checked that. The correct camera is set. If I choose "Camera" under Windows, I get into Windows 8 in the area where I could install an external camera. But I use the webcam integrated in the laptop.
Is the webcam recognized by the "Camera" app? - If not, "No camera was found" is displayed.
Then you should look in the device manager under "Image processing devices" to see if it is deactivated.
If there's an arrow pointing down at the front of the symbol, right-click on the webcam entry> Activate device.
Is the microphone recognized in Firefox?
Maybe looking for cameras in the device manager?
Yes it will, I have no problems with the microphone.
