Applications now word file?

My dad has a problem with his laptop. I'm pretty good with electronics, but I'm too overwhelmed with that. Namely: My father had something (random) pressed and then all his programs were word files. So if he Google opens (it takes only extremely long) opens a word window and then Google. And constantly, no, permanently a charge circuit is on the cursor as if a background program was running. I'm overwhelmed at the moment but I would like to help my father, but I do not know how.

It's not all Word files. Only the PC got the setting that everything that should be opened, should be opened with Word.

Go to the desktop. Right-click on a symbol / file (no Worddocument) to be opened. Choose here with which program this file should be opened.

The PC now opens everything with Word. The files are still what they used to be…

First thing. The question came at just 7:30 and you write good evening. So there's something wrong. And with that word problem can't be caused as far as I know with a combination of keys.

Click on a file - right mouse button - open with -standard program.
