Kali Linux next to Windows?

I have just installed Kali-Linux next to Windows and proceeded as follows:
I reduced the size of the Windows drive (C. To 100GB, then I restarted the laptop and did the installation of Kali-Linux, selecting "100GB free memory" as the "hard drive." I also have the Grub bootloader in the master Boot record installed.
Unfortunately, when I restart the laptop, Windows starts normally and I have no way to dial Kali.

Would be cool if someone could help me with that.

re

Did you also go safely, which was recognized during the installation Windows as a second operating system? I once had the same problem. Once it's recognized, it worked.

Already tried in the BIOS, as a startup option to take Grub or Linux?

Ca

I believe in the installation of GRUB was there that no other operating system was detected. How did you get that fixed?

re

I simply restarted the installation, then it worked.

Ca

Unfortunately I did not find anything in the BIOS, but I'll take a closer look

Ca

Nope, there can't choose anything

I have just installed Kali-Linux next to Windows and I did the following

… That makes m.M.n. No sense at all! There are dozens of things that can take days and you certainly do not want to be nailed to Kali for days!

It would be more useful a VM or a second PC - eg cheap netbook!

I reduced the size of the Windows drive (C. To 100GB, then I restarted the laptop and did the installation of Kali-Linux, selecting "100GB free memory" as the "hard drive." I also have the Grub bootloader in the master Boot record installed.

… Sounds right - make sure that GRUB does not show up for a few seconds.

Unfortunately, when I restart the laptop, Windows starts normally and I have no way to dial Kali

… If GRUB is not displayed for a short while something seems to have gone wrong during the installation. You can boot the PC from a Kali stick, manually mount the disk and then chroot the mounted disk and manually install GRUB on it:

Two more comments:

Kali is not a system for users like you who can't solve such problems themselves. You'll soon realize that updates quickly destroy the OS and then you have to know how to fix the problem yourself! If you're looking for something more user-friendly with the same tools: Parrot Security OS

As mentioned above, some tests / attacks / etc. Run for hours or days, so dualboot makes little sense. Take a VM or get used for 100 EUR a laptop. Dualcore with 2-4GB RAM are enough!

Au

There's no such option.

Well, I meant that he should look at the boot order xD because you can specify very well what should be booted!

Au

Yes, for example, if you first boot from USB, CD / DVD or hard disk…

Since Windows boots, it is pretty clear that he should boot from the plate which should also be Kali. If there's no selection then the Windows Loader has not been replaced by Grub.

se

Nana, that's not true. You can usually choose which boot loader you want to start.

I can, for example Grub + Clover + OpenCore + Windows on the boot partition and choose which Efi file is started.

Au

Oh that's what you meant…

To recognize other operating systems, the os-prober package is mandatory.

If this is not installed and loaded, then no operating system already installed will be detected, because GRUB itself does not recognize it.

Do you have a UEFI system or even an MBR system?
Show how the disk management displays the partitioning.

Check the bios to see if Secure Boot is enabled. If so, disable it. Reboot.
