Hi
I would like to grow a laptop and I can't decide between two. One has a processor with 2 cores and 4 threads with a clock frequency of 1.70Ghz and Turbo of 3.3Ghz. The other has a processor with 4 cores and 4 threads at a clock rate of 1.1 Ghz and a Turbo of 2.40Ghz.
Which is ultimately better / faster?
An indication of the two processors would help.
What are the two processors called?
In principle, 4-kerners are better. If you calculate it, the second processor is more powerful.
It concerns the i7 4650u and the intel 8th gen gemini lake n4100
These are the i7 4650 and the intel 8th gen gemini lake n4100
Threads are virtual cores, depending on the program that is already a few percent more, but definitely not a whole core!
One CPU with Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) Simulates twice as many cores as two core per core. However, each component is only once available, so a core with SMT can't be as strong as two cores! You can just look at benchmarks of CPUs with and without SMT, the difference is not big!
For example, the benchmark score of all tested systems in UserBenchmark is only 12% faster, although the Ryzen 3 1200 with 4 cores and threads and 3.1 GHz has 4 threads less than the Ryzen 5 1400 with 4 cores and 8 threads on 3, 2 GHz
Sure to take the I7, the Celeron is damn slow
Clear the i7, the Celeron is even slower.
