When I enter the network key on my new laptop during the wireless connection, he tells me that he is wrong - but that can't be. What could be the problem?
Wrong password entered.
Change it on the side of the seller.
Does the laptop actually complain that the key is wrong or just that it can't access the internet?
If he reports key wrong, you must check the settings in the router (compare) - Network name spelled correctly? Enter the network key EXACTLY (case-sensitive)! Enter correct encryption algorithm (WAP / WEP etc)! Is the SSID invisible? Then switch to visible for experimental purposes!
No access to the internet? Then maybe a Wi-Fi access restriction (Mac filtering) is active. Then the MAC address of the laptop must first be entered (as an approved device).
What does the network key have to do with a website provider?
Thank you for your help, I actually typed something wrong, but now I have it.
If you have a WPS button on the wireless router, I would always make new Wi-Fi connection using the WPS method, because WPS does everything for you (press WPS button & select WPS on the laptop… Done):
Automatically select the correct WLAN encryption.
Automatically transmits the Wi-Fi password, so typos impossible.
Automatically expands the MAC filter in the wireless router
Yes, that's how easy it is with the WPS button on the router.
