Hi

I bought myself a 6.35 jack adapter to record the sound of my electric piano on the laptop, I watched a YouTube video and made it exactly as it was shown. But unfortunately it does not work I use audencity for the recording

can someone help me?

Dr

Can you please write a little more, what you did and what is not possible? Does the signal arrive? So is there a level somewhere?

Ko

Yes, it does, but he does not directly pick up the sound from the piano but the micro from my laptop

Dr

Is your cable in the microphone input of your notebook?

Then you have to select the LineIn as source, do not leave the default capture device selected.

Ko

Yes it is, it was in the video too

Ko

How does it work, sorry I do not know my way around

Dr

Click on the loudspeaker symbol on the bottom right with the right mouse button and keep looking. I do not know exactly now…

You go over MicIn? Mhh… There's an active amplifier input because a mic only sends a minimum level. Then you have to turn down the mic gain at least. Depending on the sound card driver, OnboardMic and MicIn are listed separately. Then you have to adjust the other mic input. Could be, but it overdrives.

Set input in Audacity:

You should have a mic icon under the play bar. There you can switch between mic and other inputs. Then you have to select RearMic or something to use the jack input.

Oke I try it thanks

1. It may be that the signal of the ePiano is not strong enough. I assume you go directly into the sound chip of the laptop… Have read an answer, so in the mic input. I almost bet that it is at the level of the signal.

2. You have not selected the correct source in Audacity.

I have also tested a lot and always had massive latencies with the sound chips, especially during monitoring (= listening during recording), i. What you hear comes to the game with a time lag, that's awesome. Even if you manage to configure it correctly, that could be the next problem.

My advice is: Get you a good USB audio interface (80 - 150 euro, for example, Thomann, Focusrite or Steinberg), not the cheapest take. That should work fine then. Greeting
