How to open the BIOS under Windows 10?

Hi, I want to install Linus on my laptop and at the moment Windows 10 is running on it. I have created a bootable USB stick, and would now have to change the boot order in the BIOS. Because at the moment the laptop starts directly with Windows even if I plug in the stick.

According to various tutorials, you can no longer open the BIOS via F-keys (did not work for me) but you can open in the settings Update and Security → Recovery → now re-start click (advanced start).

There you have to click on troubleshooting and then extended options. There should then be the field UEFI firmware settings. But that does not exist with me. At this point, only the field Startup Settings is with me. I'm not into the UEFI / BIOS.

Am I doing something wrong or are there other ways to boot from USB Stick?

It has already been clarified:

BIOS is independent of the operating system.

During the boot process, there's a key combination / or key, with which one comes into the bios instead of to boot. Which that is depends on the board. F1, F8, esc are common.

The BIOS has nothing at all to do with Windows 10, which with setting and recover is utter nonsense regarding BIOS.

Immediately after the PC is switched on, a message appears on the screen that reads press (key X) to setup (or) start BIOS.

The key can be the F 1-12 key, but also the REMOTE, ESC or INSERT key.

Which laptop (make and model) do you own? Which key you need to press to enter the BIOS varies by manufacturer and model.

That with the extended start was already correct and works also with nearly all modern computers. The UEFI, if the computer has one, can then be accessed via the path you have specified (Troubleshooting → Advanced Options → UEFI Firmware Settings).

If this does not work for you, you have a machine that either still has a BIOS or does not properly implement the EFI shell. But that does not matter as soon as you find the right button for your model ;-)

How to open the UEFI / BIOS is in your user manual.

Also check if your laptop has a boot menu on startup.
This is easier: In the boot menu, you simply select the USB drive and start booting from the selected drive.
