I want to put together a new DJ setup. So far I have used a Xone: 92 in combination with 2x XDJ 1000 NXS Mk2.
Now I've seen various DJs play with the Xone K2 in combination with a Xone: 96.
So my question is, can I play a full-fledged DJ set with a Xone K2 and a Xone: 96 and a laptop? Or is the combo only suitable for live sets and not for pre-made songs?
The reason why I'm interested in the combo is that I want to forego all the bells and whistles that come with XDJs or CDJs and want to focus more on the set structure and track selection.
When I read the question, I find it hard to believe that your setup actually consisted of CDJ1000 MKII (the name Nexus never existed on this player). Otherwise you would not ask this question from a factual point of view. But be that as it may:
No, one: K2 is definitely not a replacement for an XDJ1000. It is not intended for that either. The layout alone is clearly more reminiscent of a mixer than a track deck controller. If you really want to, and are accordingly familiar with it, you could: Map K2 so that the most important commands are available for the transport section, but in my opinion that is definitely not sensible. The lack of a jog wheel, in particular, makes many essential techniques of hanging up impossible. If you only want to play the tracks one after the other, a: K2 can be sufficient, yes. But then, in my opinion, you don't need a Xone: 92.
