I've had the problem for ages that Windows shows that it is not activated. I got my laptop with Win8 at the time and it was automatically updated for Windows. However, with Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center, he now wants a product key, but I don't have one.
I've also bought keys and tried them that didn't work either. Now I tried to set up the laptop again, but the message "Some files are missing. The files are on the Windows installation or recovery medium."
I also tried to install Win10, but the message "Your PC can't be updated with this tool. The language or edition of the Windows version currently installed on your PC is not supported by this tool." Would this message also appear if I tried to install Win10 using a stick?
Does anyone have a solution how to get an activated Windows version on the laptop? No matter which version, but preferably 10 but basically I just want an activated one. I'm also not familiar with all of the systems. I would be very grateful if someone could help me. I'm starting to despair.
Today I don't know exactly what it was like back then, but I imagine that there was a difference back then whether only Windows or Windows with Mediacenter was installed and that the licenses were therefore different. Maybe that's the reason for the problems.
How old is the computer? Because of course you could also install Windows 10 on the computer if the built-in components meet the requirements. You can get an official Windows 10 license from some providers quite cheaply. You can download a Windows 10 installation disk yourself from the Internet at any time. However, I would recommend a more powerful internet connection because the file is about 4 GB. With most of today's connections that shouldn't be a problem. You then have to burn the file to a DVD and then start the installation from there.
You can still read the key from that time.
Download jelly bean from Heise. Follow the instructions and read out the key.
If that doesn't work, buy a new license. They're not too expensive.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
I've even tried something new, but that's not accepted either. No matter what I try, there are always error messages.
I had already tried Windows 10, but the message described above came up. Does it make a difference whether I install the installation disk directly or via a stick or CD? Because the former didn't work. I'm afraid that other variants will suddenly stop me getting the laptop.
Well, I wanted to do the new setup with a new operating system, because I wanted to refresh the laptop one way or another. So also with another license but nothing works
What about: "Then it is most likely not from a reputable source." not understandable? Or do you seriously believe that Microsoft allows such keys?
What kind of error message is it? Is there a code?
No, just that it's not supported or files are missing or something
Okay then I would really reinstall windows, which is often the easiest thing to do before looking for errors for hours and then still not finding anything. Simply back up your data and reinstall.
I just don't know how to do it.
Have now read the key and when I enter it to activate it comes "this is a standard key and can't be used to activate"
Not knowing about a system and not making any logical conclusions are two different things, at least from my point of view.
O. K. - level down: "You-need-license-from-serious-dealer".
Happy to send a fa, I'll help you
Then you probably had a home license and are currently trying to license a pro version
Rarely seen something unfriendly, but thank you
Always say those who present themselves and do not want to hear answers.
In this sense: But please. Good luck with your acquired "blocked pirated copy key".
The problem has now been resolved.
