Is there a difference between a Medion laptop and a Brand Model?

I gave a buddy a Medion laptop, he was visibly dissatisfied because it is from Aldi. But I'm sure that he is dissatisfied because it is from Aldi. So has no fire. It had the same hardware components as that of a branded laptop. So there's no difference, except that one is an Aldi laptop and the other is Samsung or something. Or Acer

Well, Medion laptops certainly have a rather "cheap" reputation, which is often associated with poor quality. Doesn't always have to be like this, but it can.

Basically, the components of such devices are kept cheaper. But Medion devices can also be good.

What do you mean by "fire"? And if it's not a very old device, then it's Lenovo's thing (across 3 corners). There's also one crux that many do not understand: Aldi is just a seller here. The devices are also available from Medion directly. These things are designed / developed by Lenovo.

Yes, and exactly THAT is wrong to associate Medion with "poor" quality. The components were upper middle class, he was only sad because it is Medion. Just like all these children who only want Apple because it is Apple

My opinion is this:
Since Aldi / Lidl have other contracts with the supplier / manufacturer - therefore, among other things, they also have production or assembly workshops in different locations - especially because it is cheaper abroad - the price for such products can also be lower.
The components alone do not have to be cheaper than from other well-known end manufacturers.
If the core comes from Intel, it also comes from Intel. And this is in his name. They can't cause customers anger with cheap products. Other components also want to earn money.
With all the other brands like Samsung, Toshiba, Acer, IBM (Lenovo), Apple and whatever they are called, you also pay for the name.
Medion certainly had a difficult start at the beginning - however, Medion blossomed and doesn't even have that bad reputation anymore.

And as the saying goes: You don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I think your colleague should consider himself lucky in the first place that he got a working laptop.

Apropos: If I put together a PC myself - then it is even more nameless than Medion. And put together even more cheaply than if I buy this with the name Medion or brand name.

Hence my view - it shouldn't be about the name, but about the functionality.
If he is dissatisfied, then he can give it back, but then his friendship is also worthless.

Wouldn't say that Medion is worse than other manufacturers.

We have a Samsung notebook and a Medion notebook in our household, both of which are technically at the same level. I couldn't really see any differences in quality or performance. They have both been running for years without any problems and both were purchased used. So they are not worse now.

The Samsung is a bit faster, but it also has more RAM than the Medion. But you can change it if you need it urgently
