My laptop hangs up every now and then. I have added pictures of what it looks like. At first I thought it could be because of the display, or the cable for it, but since I connected a second monitor I could see that everything looked normal on the other. Unfortunately, the mouse can no longer be moved.
The pixels wriggle around in the corner.
My guesses so far were: display, display cable, internal graphics unit (Intel UHD Graphics 630), driver error of the Intel UHD,
I own the Acer Nitro 5 AN517-51 laptop
With an Intel i7 9750H processor, Intel (R) UHD Graphics 630, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 and 32GB Ram as well as 2 SSD one with 500GB and one with 2TB
As far as I know, the Intel (R) UHD Graphics is responsible for the main screen, but I'm not sure about that.
The whole problem is after a reboot, but unfortunately reappears irregularly, mostly when the load is very low.
I don't want to swap any parts or the like wildly because a new 144Hz 17.3 "display costs 180 euro. And the cables for about 50 euro and none of it is ready for quick delivery.
You can set somewhere that the GTX is always used. Maybe that will solve your problem.
Unfortunately, this looks a lot like a defect in the graphics card's memory. I suspect the internal graphics solution of the CPU works and if the 1650 is used you will get problems.
So now I would first test which graphics unit is defective. If it is the internal of the CPU, I would take Insert123's approach. But unfortunately it's probably 1650.
Not as screen output on the laptop screen, the GTX is used on the 2 screen because the picture looks normal but the mouse is hanging there too and you don't get a reboot drum
The second screen is used by the 1650 and everything looks great, only the mouse is hanging and you can't do a reboot
Write to Acer support, they can certainly help you more with their product. Do you vlt. Liquid spilled on your laptop? If so, the internal cable / motherboard may have been damaged.
Liquid has never come close and everything inside looks great.
I will definitely contact Acer support and then hope for an answer. The last time they just ignored me and never got any feedback…
As far as I know, only one GPU works at a time and the signal is looped through. At least that's my understanding of Optimus. So test the GPUs.
That's stupid to hear, I hope that you will find your solution at the support.
? In the Nvidia system settings you can switch on that automatically only the gtx or the uhd grafics are used.
That's true
With new laptops it is often inherent that the uhd grafics is automatically taken or that the uhd grafics is preferred, which is why some people never notice that they have never used their gpu.
I know that and it doesn't make sense. It should at least be there when you set up the device.
