Acer power supply gets very hot, what is still normal?

I noticed recently that my power supply from my Acer Swift 5 laptop got pretty hot, so really hot. If I should estimate then about 60 °. I know it can get warm when it's charging, but really so hot then?

Is that similar to you? Or does that speak for an emerging defect?

What rating does the power supply have according to its nameplate and is it still the original Acer power supply?

How old is the power adapter?

Br

Input: 100-240V at 1.4A and 50-60Hz

Output: 19V 2.37A and 45W

If the above data answer the rated power. And it is original about 6 months old.

Yes, power supplies can get very hot, especially as manufacturers save power and power supplies run to their absolute limits. Have to keep synonymous only 2 years.

Everything OK.

I've just recharchiert something, and therefore the power supply at maximum load (notebook in operation with simultaneous loading) actually warm to almost 60 degrees.

That's not nice, but the electrical components should not get any thermal problems. However, the lifetime of the capacitors could possibly suffer from it, if the power supply would permanently so hot.

Overall, this strong heating at max. 45 watts of electrical rated power but for a rather poor efficiency of the PSU.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

My pleasure. 😉
