Dear community,
I bought a Nitro AN515-52 this week. There's an Intel i7 8750h, 16GB Ram, 512 GB SSD and a G-Force GTX 1050 installed. Today I came to install my software and games and off we went…
Unfortunately the fun lasted only 1.5 - 2 hours and then the laptop simply restarted. Acer logo and then it went to Windows. That happened a couple of times. I checked the temperatures and found no abnormalities.
My next guess was an operating system problem. The event logs only showed the sudden shutdown without shutdown. After restarting the laptop, I decided to reset the system in the recovery / repair menu. Unfortunately, this also fails due to the restart. The same problem also occurs in the bios, ie "without load". I have no idea what to look at.
Power supply or without a power supply also does not matter.
I would be very happy about ideas or suggestions.
Possibly too old bios or it just wants you to do something different over Easter.
Check Bios!
Did you buy the NEW from the dealer or used from private?
For me, the error sounds like a problem with the mainboard and its power supply.
You can reinstall Windows with fresh drivers, but then I would do a load test over several hours.
I bought it as a B product from the dealer and have already contacted it. But the ambition to have a look is great 😉
I also suspect the mainboard and power supply. Unfortunately, the battery is not easy to remove to exclude it. The error only occurs in battery mode.
I had already considered reinstalling, but the error also occurs when I'm only in the BIOS. Reinstalling Windows would not help.
BIOS sounds like a plausible idea that I'm going to try out today. Of course, only when it gets dark 😉 because the beautiful weather should be enjoyed 🙂
Yes, but I would rather stick to the retailer, you certainly still have the option to change or was that not an online purchase?
B-goods could also come from a return that was then not properly checked. I once had it with a keyboard that I then sent back 3 times because individual keys did not work.
I contacted the dealer and they recommended that I go directly to the manufacturer to take advantage of the guarantee. The dealer wouldn't do anything else.
But I updated the bios and installed Windows from scratch. The error did not reappear under normal use. But I still have to do a test over a longer period with more load.
Have used the bios up to date and reinstalled Windows. With normal use, the error no longer occurs. But stay tuned ;-)
Otherwise report.
Dealers like to do that, but then you may have to wait weeks for a repair. As long as you still have the cancellation period, I advise you to use it and then order a new device if necessary, which is usually faster and more reliable.
So after the holidays I finally had some time to test the notebook and lo and behold… The error persists. The error occurs even in the registration mask, i.e. Without a great load.

I'm still undecided whether I should take advantage of the warranty from Acer or the exchange at the dealer.
Then the ram may be defective, send the thing back
