Ram upgrade / different sizes?

I want to upgrade the Ram on my notebook.

Currently 8gb are installed. 2x4 gb where one of the chips should be permanently installed.

It is an Acer Aspire A515-54G-772F with i7 chip.

Now to the question, it makes sense to upgrade the ram here, e.g. With a 16gb chip, so you would have a total of 20gb. "Bite" the two built-chips, not the same brand and size?

Does that really bring me more power?

How do I find out, without unscrewing, what exact data have my chips already installed. So ghz? And how many volts are they running?

An

Notebooks actually only have 2 ramslots. And they are soldered only on extremely flat moselles.

You can use two different chips, but both will suit the slower one.

To see what you have installed, I can recommend the software "CPU-Z".

Google the model (at the manufacturer) … There's usually what (max.) Goes… Everything else can kink

Thank you for your answer. What is meant by "will adapt to the slower one"?

Does that mean that it's just as fast as before, or a little faster, but not as fast as it could?

Let's assume your laptop currently has a RAM bar with 8 GB and 2000 MHz. If you blocked a bar with 3000 Mhz now, it would only run at 2000 Mhz.
