Why steam download and speed test so slow?

I have already asked some questions on the subject.

I have installed a new mainboard, the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, and since then in all speed tests and steam downloads a download rate of approx. 20Mbit / s although it should be around 100Mbit / s.

Also the upload speed for the speed test is not higher than 2Mbit / s although I should reach 40Mbit / s.

I then bought a NIC without changing the download rate.

The expected performance is also shown in the interface statistics. Even with Origin downloads, the download speed reaches normal values of around 90Mbit / s.

I have already reinstalled all the LAN drivers without changing the download rate.

When I connect my laptop to the same port, the download / upload speed reaches normal values.

Did you install GameFirstV from Asus? That could be to blame. I have a Maximus XI Hero myself, but no problems.

What is your router to me?

And as usual:

The Speedest page shows kbit / sec, the Steam Download MBYTE / sec.

Are two different units. Don't confuse them!

Do you have a 100 Mbit line at all?

With 100 MBit (Megabit) a maximum of 12.5 MB (Megabyte) would be possible.

Your speed test above shows 22 MBit. That would be 2.75 MB.

Steam shows the download rate in MB, which is why the displayed 2 MB / s match the 22 MBit of the speed test.

That pleases me. Sometimes it's very small things that cause big problems.
