Pouring water into laptop, what now?

I have the Asus Zenbook UX434f and yesterday "watered" it with about 1/5 liter of water. The rear end of the laptop stood 6.5 cm on a box, so that the keyboard had an incline.

I quickly disconnected it from the power and turned it off, then I cleaned the keyboard with handkerchiefs. I then turned it upside down so that the keyboard looks down in the hope that the water will flow out.

It's been 1 day now and I don't know if I should turn it on?

First of all, you provided very good first aid. It is important not to switch on the PC under any circumstances. To be on the safe side, wait at least four days to a week. You can also put the PC on a heater, but this should never be warmer than 40 °. You can also use a hair dryer to carefully blow dry in the openings with a lot of space over medium heat. But first screw up the well-received PC, such as RAM or SSD / HDD. Dry them very well with lots of kitchen paper. Then during the dry season you can put rice bags on the keyboard.
Only after this time can you turn on the PC again and be happy that it is still likely to work.

Best regards and just drop a comment here if you have activated it.

Thank you very much for your answer! Unfortunately, my laptop doesn't have such simple screws that can be opened. They are extremely small and I don't have the right screwdrivers. So I can't open it. Furthermore, I don't have a normal touchpad, but a second screen as a touchpad. This is not set directly on the housing, but 3-4 mm below, so there's also a gap. Since the laptop was slanted, I believe that water also ran in there. Should I just leave it there and hope that there's no corrosion of the individual components?

That your screenpad is a bit more "built-in" shouldn't be a problem if you have the necessary patience. Blow dry at half speed and half heat for as long as possible (a good 20-30 minutes) in ALL possible openings. This also includes screws, edges where water can penetrate, the ventilation slot, etc. IMPORTANT TO ENSURE A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 20cm. Then leave your PC at least 5 days. In the best case, you put a lot of travel bags on the whole PC (including the keyboard) ON THE FIRST AND SECOND DAY. On the 3rd you take it down and leave the PC for at least another 3 days (better 7 days). You should then be able to restart the PC. In rare cases, it can of course also happen that the PC then stops working. But that happens very rarely to MEISSTENS.

Let it dry for 1 week then you are on the safe side.

Your first steps were very good.

However, I would wait 5 to 7 days before you start the laptop again.

I do not know the model, but if you can, remove the battery at the back to ensure that no more current flows. Otherwise there's still a risk of a short circuit. In addition, you can easily remove the hard drive (s) from the bottom. I would dry them too.

If you're not the biggest disaster in terms of craftsmanship, you can unscrew the bottom of your laptop and then remove the keyboard from above. You can then remove any remaining water with a cotton swab or Zewa.

If there are deposits of water, put cleaning alcohol on a cotton pad and use it to clean the boards.

I would only recommend this whole campaign to you if you are a careful person, since you can of course break a lot during the campaign.

Otherwise you can put it open (alternating with the keyboard up / down) in the sun or in a warm room. I would only place the part on the heater if it does not get warmer than 40-50 ° C

I would use a hair dryer to dry it again in your place. It is best to unscrew and also dry inside. After that I would wait 1-2 days for security. I think that should be enough.

Buying new is good for the economy, jobs and especially for my pension.

The main thing is that you have paid the premiums for the household insurance on time, then the new purchase is no problem.
