Can I connect a monitor to my laptop?

I would like to connect a monitor to my Asus g701v (https://laptopmedia.com/laptop-specs/asus-rog-g701v/) because the space is simply too small for me.

Since I'm a gamer, it is important that the monitor does not have any lag.

So which monitor can I connect and what would be the maximum resolution and Hertz?

Well you look which connections the laptop has e.g. HDMI and then you look which resolution the laptop offers e.g. FullHD or normal HD or even 4K.

Then you buy a corresponding monitor that can reproduce the resolution + has the connection options.

You can actually connect a monitor to any laptop via the HDMI port that the laptop has

With this laptop, however, as far as I know, you can also connect a screen via the 2 USB-c ports

This resolution of the laptop does not matter if you connect a screen and it supports 8k, it is only important whether the graphics card or graphics unit of the laptop supports 8k and not the display of the laptop - you can also replace the display

So the refresh rate of the screen can be up to 240hz and the maximum resolution is a bit better than 4k because your laptop has a GTX 1080 that supports these things but an HDMI port can only output 4k 60hz or full HD 144hz. A DisplayPort connection would be better, but your laptop doesn't have that. I would advise you to buy a PC anyway because they are cheaper in proportion.

Yes, the monitor has Thunderbolt 3, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort.

It is more important for a gaming monitor that you have 144hz (for 27 inches, WQHD is also advisable). The input delay hardly makes a difference (especially since something like "0.5ms" is often related to the GtG).
