I have from my PC the main hard drive (installed on the windows) expanded and made an external now I want a program which is installed on the laptop start. A Neuimstalation from the Internet is not an option!

That will work in the least cases. Why? Because most programs also leave "traces" in the operating system. For example, Any DLLs, entries in the registry, etc. All this is missing on your laptop. Ergo, it will not work…

As long as the correct path to the installed program in the registry is correct, the program will work as well… If not, then the program will not run…

Yes and no.

Many programs install registry keys for additional information (directories, if necessary). The keys are sometimes quite clear in corresponding points in the registry, but some "entrench" themselves also in system areas.

In addition, it may also be that in addition to the hard drive and data on the system disk are stored, this of course makes it difficult to run on other machines with an external hard drive.

However, you can try if there's a so-called "portable version" of the programs used, this can be without great problems on removable media (USB stick, external hard drives) pack and use on various mashines without restrictions.

Otherwise it is called "Try and Error".
