Is it possible to extend a RAM memory from the laptop with an x arbitrary as long as it is DDR3?

I have the following problem and although the laptop of my girlfriend (Toshiba Satellite C55D-C-12Z) lately works quite slowly and often hangs up. That's why I screwed it up and checked what is there for a RAM memory and if you can expand it.

Installed is an 8 GB memory and you can install a second one. Now my question is necessarily to take an original from Toshiba

or can I use one of e.g. Kingston is still cheaper (main thing DDR3).

My second question is, can I use or build a 16GB to the 8GB?

the laptop thereby any problems because one is 8 GB and the other then 16 GB in size?

You need to take a notebook module (SO-DIMM).
Kingston's is for PCs and does not fit in.

How much memory the notebook can manage, is in the manual, but if it is slow with 8 GB, it will probably not be in memory.

He

What are you guessing can it be that he is so slow?

Jo

I can't say that, but start the task manager (bar below - right-click on free field - task manager) and see how much memory is used, if it is just slow or if the CPU load is high - if so, through which software or apps this is caused. Often it is antivirus software that is doing something and slowing down the system.

First I would look up Task Manager, which programs load the CPU.

Mind. You should definitely be able to plug in 8 GB of DDR3 SO-DIMM, as well as another 16 GB depending on the model.

But for an office laptop, 8GB of RAM is already more than enough, your problem is where completely different.

I would first try reinstalling Windows, if you do not know.

Ra

It probably will not be due to the 8GB of RAM that the laptop is so slow.
The lame processor limits the performance beforehand. Or the HDD, which slows down the system the most. Buy an SSD for 30 euro and good, that brings the system an insane performance boost.

I have just looked into the task manager and found that the volume is 100% busy. What can I do there?

Ri

Two possibilities:

The disk is overloaded by some software
The data medium is defective

Found the malefactor McAfee and uninstalled, now the PC is running again!
