I'm currently looking for a laptop with a touch. I noticed that many have the Windows 10 Home S variant as their operating system. I did further research and saw that it can be converted into the normal Win 10 Home / Pro. But since I do not know if there are any disadvantages (e.g. The touch no longer works because it may not be compatible or other functions that can no longer be used), I wanted to ask here first.
Buy a PC
I have, but I would also like something that you can take somewhere faster and that you can use as a tablet (touch) and as a computer.
But he wants a laptop.
Windows 10 Home and Home S are basically the same versions, only the big difference is that you can't install any software outside of the Windows Store with Home S, that is the big disadvantage with S, with normal Home you have no disadvantages
Oh, a notebook. Just buy one with Windows 10 Home and it is good. What are your unnecessary thoughts here?
Windows 10 S is actually a normal Windows 10. But you can only install apps from the Windows Store, i.e. H. You can't install programs like Firefox, LibreOffice…
In the settings you can then switch to Win 10 Home free of charge, or if you have a Pro Key then switch to Pro.
You won't have any disadvantages.
What is happening? You just have the normal benefits of using Windows 10 Home / Pro.
Disadvantages: Devices that are delivered with Win 10 S are often very underperforming, so that they run less well afterwards.
Therefore, it is best to set one with Win 10 Home / Pro, or no operating system, since the devices with the "S" version are 90% probably not recommended anyway. Otherwise you can easily upgrade.
