I have the following problem.
I have a new laptop and want to install uTorrent.
I downloaded the Windows file from the Internet, but I can't open it. I have also downloaded a few other uTorrent Windows versions, but none of them can be opened. On my MacOS, opening uTorrent went without any problems.
My question now: why is 7-Zip denying access? How can I open the file now?
Here: step by step what happens:
Not 7Zip denies access, but your antivirus. A torrent installer contains a PUA (potentially unwanted application) … Mostly a browser hijacker and spinner.
Oh, okay. What can I do to open the file anyway?
Trust your antivirus and let it go.
I have the exact same file on my Mac. This program is very important to me. Since I work with her a lot and I know that there's no virus. I had my antivirus scan the file and no harmful data was found. So if you can't help, please do not bring such sayings!
Very important? Let me put it this way: I know what torrents are usually used for.
According to https://www.utorrent.com/...nloads/win, the free version is always provided with advertising software. You can buy the ad-free Pro-Versoin for US $ 19.95 a year.
Do you have the same file on Mac? Then it can't be anything, can it?
An antivirus sometimes does not find the most popular viruses! Just because your virus scanner doesn't see anything doesn't mean that the file is safe,
Did you download this file from a source that you trust?
If yes, deactivate your antivirus and try again
It was just a simple question! If you don't have the right answer, don't answer.
Because you urgently need the program, make sure that you have downloaded it from a secure source and deactivate your AV for the duration of the installation, maybe it will work
Oh, I still got the idea (how embarrassing😅) … And thank you! Everything worked, thank you so much!
Web installer = ADWare.
Here is the web installer-free version (you have to scroll down a bit on the uTorrent page).
Why are web installers recognized as ADWare: Here primarily unwanted software is pushed in during the setup process.
Sure: You also have to be careful with the normal installation routine.
Something else on the side, do not forget to turn your scanner on again or even better throw ESET off your hard drive and activate the Windows Defender
