Open videos and photos from SD card on Windows laptop?

I have inserted an SD card from my Panasonic HD camera into my Windows laptop but I can't open the pictures and videos. The question how do you want to open the file appears? But I can't choose anything suitable. Can someone tell me what is the best way to open the pictures and videos? Can someone give me a tip which app is best to download?

Explorer (own files) then SD card so this tab and then click on the pictures or right click and then open.

In Win10, photos can be used with the app "Camera" * and
Videos can be opened with the "Movies & TV" app and with the good old "Windows Media Player".

*) The good old "Windows photo display" can also be activated for photos later - it is not as sluggish as the Camera app.
