How to transfer Gopro Max videos?

I try to explain the whole situation somehow simply, I have recently been using the Gopro Max and of course I also take 360 videos with the camera. I also use a 128 GB San-Disk card (SD card). Whenever I have recorded a video in 360 mode, I want to watch it on my Windows 10 (64 bit) laptop, on the VR player.

After I have inserted the SD card into my laptop, I go into Windows Explorer and open the folder where all the pictures and videos are contained… What I notice every time is that my 360 degree videos were always visible in paper format…

I couldn't have these videos played anywhere, so I figured it would make a difference to play it on VLC media player (after I downloaded it) …

That worked but unfortunately I could not watch it in the correct video format (apparently VLC Media Player does not support 360 degree videos), I accidentally clicked on, always open… And now the videos are no longer in paper format displayed, but with a hat (i.e. With the icon of VLC Media Player…)

Now the problem that is shown to me on Gopro VR Player is, The File Format is not suported "(before I had the VLC Media Player, it could at least be opened…) now I can no longer open it…

I'm really not a computer genius and I'm sorry that I have written so much but it is important to me that this problem is solved and that it is really clear what this is all about. I'm looking forward to everyone who will try to help me, but if nothing comes of it, I will have to call customer support.

I can't answer why your GoPro VR player no longer recognizes the file. But I can tell you how you can get a different view, i.e. Assign the files to another program. Maybe it will work again…

Click on one of your 360 ° videos with the RIGHT mouse button.

Move the mouse to "Open with"

Click (left) "Choose another app"

Check the box below for "Always use this app to open…"

Now select your preferred standard program for this (in this case the VR player)
