It depends on the operating system, not whether laptop or PC.

Go to a search engine, there's the term "screenshot" and name of the operating system and you should find enough instructions.

If you use Windows:

To create a screenshot, you have different options.

You could use the Print S-Abf key to take a picture of your entire screen. But then you have to paste this image into Paint and save it, which in my opinion is quite cumbersome.

It would be simpler with the snipping tool. Simply enter "Snipping Tool" in the Windows search. Now you can either mark an area, select a window or the entire screen. You can save the created image directly.

As of Windows 8, there's also the Windows key + Print S-Abf key as a shortcut key. This will create a screenshot of your entire screen and save it in your own pictures.

Personally, I often take screenshots and in this case would recommend the free program ShareX (https://getsharex.com/), which directly uploads the created screenshot and inserts a link to pass it on to your clipboard. There you also have the option of selecting a specific area, window or desktop. If necessary, you can also save a copy of the image at a selected path.

There are still plenty of other options. For example, you can also record videos and GIFs with the program. Then there are many automated settings where you can specify what should happen after the screenshot. You can also edit the pictures. You can also combine functions with keys or keyboard shortcuts.
