I would like to buy an external monitor for my Alienware M15.
My Alienware has a resolution of 4k at 60Hz, but the graphics card can handle up to 290fps.
My first question is whether if I buy a monitor with 240fps I can use it at all because the laptop is limited to 60hz.
Or does it make more sense to use 4k?
Of course I would like to buy one from Alienware or Dell, but I'm open to other inspirations if someone has.
Your notebook screen is limited to 60Hz, you can connect whatever you want.
It depends on what you're playing.
however, the graphics card can handle up to 290fps
This is a pretty unnecessary statement since not a single word has been said about the game or the graphics settings.
If you like 4K, you can just leave it and not buy a new monitor.
If you play eSport games, I would recommend the monitor: https://www.dell.com/...beh%C3%B6r
A good mix of resolution and refresh rate would be here: https://at.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG271CQP
Your laptop is not limited to 60hz with external monitors.
Sorry for unnecessary statements I'm not very familiar with technology, so I ask here: 3
I especially want to play dead by Daylight and Overwatch, but the most important question was that I could then connect more fps to another monitor without any problems
The one you mentioned will unfortunately only be available from June…

What do you say about this I'm not very familiar with technical data, so I would be very grateful for an assessment.
This is also a very good 240hz monitor. But what you have to consider: In most games (GTA V, Battlefield V, Shadow of the Thomb Raider, PUBG) you will not achieve 240FPS. Therefore, you should lower your graphics settings a little if you buy a 240hz monitor. I think the difference between 144hz and 240hz is huge, but you have to decide for yourself whether you want to pay such a high surcharge.
