Connect notebook wirelessly to Smart TV?

My parents want to buy a new television set and asked me for advice. It is particularly important to them that they can wirelessly connect their notebook (a Surface Pro and a DELL Latitude with Windows 10) to the Smart TV. From my own LG TV I know that the connection is not always optimal and can crash. Does anyone have any experience of the current devices, with which brand and model series this function works particularly well?

It doesn't matter, you can plug a Chromecast into the TV. Then it works in any case.
