Linux laptop Nvidia switch without logging in now really possible?

I just happened to read this fairly new article: https://www.golem.de/news/optimus-nvidia-unterstuetzt-linux-technik-fuer-hybridgrafik-1908-143206.html#comments

Can I understand this together with these instructions https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PRIME#PRIME_render_offload so that under Linux now (or in the near future) with the proprietary Nvidia driver you can use your Nvidia dGPU in your laptop (and "send it to sleep" again, so that it no longer has power used) without having to log in every time?

Because so far it has always kept me from buying a laptop with dGPU. But if she can use it for applications during operation, that would of course be something.

In theory, you can use the Nvidia X server settings to determine whether you want to use the iGPU or dGPU. To do this, your notebook must support Nvidia Optimus or Nvidia Prime.

ch

Yes, but it is a question of whether you can now switch on the Nvidia "in operation" without having to register again

Th

You would have to try it.

ch

That was the question…

Testing is above studying.

Could be a little expensive.
