Home office - what should be considered as an employee?

On current occasions, my employer offers that employees are allowed to work voluntarily from home. Many of my colleagues accept this "offer", but I still have my doubts.

As a graduate in business administration (with a focus on controlling), I naturally ask myself who will reimburse me for a home office. Starting with the proportional Internet and electricity consumption, the depreciation for my private devices such as printer, keyboard, mouse etc. (laptop is provided by the company), the lighting (wear and electricity) and much more (wear on the desk and the flooring, the more frequent use of your own toilet with corresponding costs for flushing and cleaning and much more.

As you can see, the employer saves a lot of money at the home office. Why should I pay these costs? So what should I do or what I do common practice? I would like to be able to work from home, but I would like financial compensation for the increased costs (e.g. Gross of 400 euro per month).

By the way, nothing in my employment contract says about home office. It just says that the place of work is the company's offices in my city and that I'm obliged to occasional business trips in Germany.

Well, Mr. Controller, then please calculate exactly how many euro per month this all adds up. Really realistic… 400 euro gross is really outrageous for a few liters of water and a few kilowatt hours of electricity, isn't it?

Otherwise, yes, the employer saves a bit. But hopefully you are aware that this offer is primarily about protecting you and especially your loved ones who belong to the risk group (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa…) from a virus that has not been protected against until now Vaccination is still there, right?

I think your bill is outrageous.

You save on travel costs, gasoline or diesel, wear and tear on cars, etc. There are also 400 euro. 😉

As long as the devices such as notebook and smartphone are provided by the company, I see no problem.

Our company rented laptops for all employees in the home office at http://www.get-it-easy.de. They were even brand new, I still removed the protective film 🙂👍
