Delete what to sell my laptop?

I would like to sell my laptop and I have to reset it to the factory settings beforehand so that nobody can access my data

The cheapest and most attractive for the buyer is, you take out your old HD and put in a new one for a few euro. You can get a 2.5 slim 500GB HD for around 20-30 euro. That makes the notebook more interesting than if there's an old HD in it, which has already been formatted x times and then wipted.

Otherwise: Wiping multiple times (free tools on the Internet) is relatively safe for private use.

There are certain programs that you can run over it. They completely write to the hard drive and then delete the data again. This is done more often. This overwrites and deletes old data. Because if you just delete them, you're just freeing up space on the hard drive. The data are still available. They are only gone when they are overwritten.

Thanks. I thought I was in the wrong film or I hadn't noticed something…

Well it works with the tone of voice…

I haven't written a word from an SSD?!

The rest of my answer is at the top and doesn't change even if you ask the same question five times.

You can't "factory reset" a hard drive. You can erase, format, or wipe a hard drive. You asked "without anyone being able to access my data". Again: A wipe tool is the best solution for this, because, as you have now been told about 4 times, only wiping relatively ensures that the next owner can't restore your data with a few clicks of the mouse.

So: without data security: format, with data security: wipe.

This ends the subject for me.
