Laptop something upload screen?

I would like to put something on YouTube but unfortunately it takes quite a long time and every five minutes the screen gets dark from the laptop does it download anyway, even if it is dark screen or I always have to play around with mouse

You can also set the screen to stay on permanently. But might continue to download, because only the screen goes out and not the laptop
