Can someone recommend a 15/16 inch Thinkpad for up to 1000 euro, also cheaper.
Best where you can simply upgrade and replace parts.
Got the L540.
That costs just under 500.-, but the thing works great and it's easy to tinker with.
Thinkpad E495. I have had it for a year and I'm very satisfied.
The NVME SSD can be upgraded, two RAM slots, space for a SATA hard drive / SSD available. And the device is operated via USB C with 65 watts including docking station functionality via USB C. That was important to me at the time (besides "no Intel"), because I wanted to reduce my charging cable to USB C. Has 3 USB A ports, 1 HDMI, 1 microSD card slot, 1 jack, 1920x1080 IPS panel, …
Also works well with most Linux distributions. I installed openSUSE Tumbleweed.
Only the fan only somehow feels like turning off or full jug 🤣
However, someone can teach me that the xD would be unsuitable.
I also find the L13 Yoga charming… But it's over 1000 euro.
For programming under Linux with the gcc compiler or for bash this is easily enough.
I recommend OpenSuse Leap 15.2
