I have an old notebook on which I want to install Office.
During the installation process, however, comes the message that I have too little memory.
What can I do to get enough RAM again?
Tell us first the laptop model.
Then you have to unscrew it and install new RAM.
Is an older Acer notebook
Depending on the model you can install additional memory or expand it. Rule of thumb: The older the laptop, the more difficult (and often more expensive) the action, sometimes impossible.
What are you the whistle for a flat whistle
That does not get me any further. I need a whole model number.
Memory is a hardware component. Active programs load the main memory. Given the old hardware, it can be assumed that, in general, not enough storage was installed. This would only be remedied by purchasing additional memory.
But you would have to know how much memory was installed or which notebook model it is in more detail.
Freeing up RAM is therefore only possible rudimentarily by switching off any running programs such as the browser or programs running in the startup mode before installation. Whether the problem is already solved, however, is of questionable prospects of success.
Best, you look at the model number or model name. Then you have to determine what type of RAM your computer needs (SODIMM), DDR1 / 2/3/4. The best way to write the model number here. How much RAM do you currently have? You can check it like this: Control Panel> System and Security> Show RAM and processor speed. Write this in here. Then you have to look where you can buy a module. If it's an ultra-thin Ultrabook, it probably will not work. In the next step you have to turn the device over, open it with a screwdriver and install the module. But how little RAM can a device have that Office does not work…
In addition to your questions, it would be interesting to know which office software should be installed exactly, and which operating system is installed on the unknown notebook.
How big is your RAM? - Look under Control Panel> System. To
