Hi, my notebook from HP has a broken fan (it rattles.) Now I would like to install a new one. However, a screw is turned round (no Phillips is available.) Warranty is no longer, the notebook is easily 5 years old. I don't have time for tool purchases (taps), I want to replace it now. What to do to get the damn screw out?
Kinky screws are carefully drilled out. Drill bit is significantly smaller than screw. Should work. With careful drilling, the thread remains intact.
There are unscrewing tools, you can also try using a slotted screwdriver to gently tap the screw
Ok how exactly? So, goose little drill, start in the middle?
As I said, I don't have time for tools
Where else. In addition, very carefully like a pair of hedgehogs!
XD Ok
Then take a slotted screwdriver about the same size as the hole and gently tap it into the screwdriver, then screw it out with a lot of pressure
Should you normally have a slot screwdriver at home? But you should avoid knocking too hard, HP likes to fix the threads in a plastic knob… It likes to break off. Otherwise everything was said.
Not with the 1kg mallet but gently with e.g. The handle of another screwdriver, if not even enough to push a little harder and turn it out…
This involves a lot of feeling and since the questioner seems to be a layperson, I advise against it.
But drilling out is not the real thing, you can also shoot through a chip
Sometimes you have to knock lightly on notebooks here and there to get ahead, as strange as that sounds. Proportionality counts here (not a 5kg sledgehammer).
The fastest way is with the ax😂
If you consider the age, you can of course try everything very carefully.
Are you sure the fan is broken? Maybe there's just something hanging in the case and makes noise when it comes into contact with the fan blades.
Probably true.
@ KingFabian2 ax? Spruce moped.
And for precision work, the Flex 😂
