GTA San Andreas - downgrade does not work?

I wanted to downgrade the Steam version of GTA SA to 1.01. It worked, but when I started the game I got the error message "Can't find resolution 1600x900x30" or something like that. So I installed a patch to fix that. Since this did not work, I wanted to start the game with the lowest Windows resolution. It stopped in the loading screen and now I need help. I'm using an HP notebook running Windows 10 64 bit.

Which downgrade patch do you use?

Not everyone works & 'with the Steam version, it's problematic anyway.

Just go for a few gta: sa mod pages & 'try different patches.

(As far as I can remember there was a patch for 1.0, rather than using 1.01.)
