My business notebook was stolen today (HP EliteBook 850 G7). The UEFI was locked by IT with a password, as was the internal SSD.
The IT department knows all the data about the device (IMEI, serial number and MAC address). As an info: "Find my device" is deactivated by default.
Is it possible to find the device even after reinstalling Windows 10?
You can expect that it will not be found again unless you have a trace of who might have stolen it.
When the notebook is off you can of course not locate it and who knows who and where will get it.
Maybe the thief has already broken it out of paranoia that it could be located.
Maybe the insurance will pay for a new one if you don't care about the data
Could also be😅
I already have a new one, luckily most of the data can be saved on our network drive.
The only problem is that the ETS5, ABB RobotStudio, Kuka and all Siemens licenses were / are on the notebook (in case that should mean something to anyone)
Thanks for the quick answer👍
It was probably a contractor or the cleaning lady… At the moment, unfortunately, devices are often disappearing from us
