Brightness not adjustable / available?

I have owned the HP Omen17 for 2 days now and am at a loss as to the brightness settings. There's no bar under the "Display" settings that enables me to switch the brightness.

Now I do not know whether I consciously made mistakes or whether there are other reasons? I tried using Device Manager to create the control panel, update the graphics card or whatever I could find on the network.

My Fn buttons that serve the brightness also do not work… Exist but… So I have overlooked something, misunderstood or set it wrong.

Can someone help me please? It would be terrible if I had actually managed to irreversibly change my laptop after two days.

Have you ever tried to search for "brightness" in the bottom left of the search bar (the classic one you have in the task bar)? I can at least open the area where I can adjust the brightness. ^^ '

St

Yes I did, but to no avail. Then I'm suggested brightness settings for the impaired, i.e., higher contrast, color / size of the mouse etc.

After a long and deep research, it seems to me that the brightness is completely missing. Could it be that I unconsciously set it up like this? Is this due to the current Windows version? My laptop?

Di

Phew, I don't really know that exactly. I'm only good at googling, but I didn't find anything. Otherwise, I would maybe just call customer support.

St

Oh thanks for that! Yes I will have to do that, try anywayxo

Don't you have fn keys?

Between the old and the Windows key, this should then be pressed on the top of the f keys, which is usually little blue symbols.

St

But I do, but they don't respond. This is also apparently missing in the settings where the brightness control should be located.

Reinstall the keyboard drivers, they sometimes get stuck away on my old laptop, after that everything was fine.

St

I updated the driver with no further result. Do you think I should uninstall it and then reload it? I'm afraid that I could damage my laptop more than necessary. Also do not necessarily know how to correctly "find" the reinstallation… Can something go wrong?

Li

What should go wrong if you don't have a driver or yours is defective, so Windows only uses the standard driver without the fn or other function keys.

I think there was a Windows update and the driver has some damage.

It is best to go to HP and download all drivers, the old driver will be uninstalled by itself in today's systems.

I've already done it a few times.
