Does a cooling pad help with a laptop?

A cooling pad helps with a laptop. Because the hotter the pc, the louder the fans get, right? That means if you use something extra, the fans will be quieter, right? Does anyone have any knowledge or experience?

Yes, the fans are quieter and since the parts do not reach such a high temperature, the GPU is not clocked down.

If your laptop has an extra GPU in it, then you should also deal with "undervolting" because you can save a lot of heat by doing this. In individual cases even about 15 ° C, which is an enormous difference, but that is individual for each graphics card.

But the "Cooling Pad" itself is full of fans, so it doesn't get any quieter overall…

In my experience, such parts often have the opposite effect (and as already mentioned, they also make noise). The cooling systems of the laptops are designed to work with the air they suck in, so a cooling pad creates turbulence or actually pushes the air into the device (which the fans don't like).

It is better if you regularly clean the entire cooling system or have it cleaned. What also helps (that's what I do) is to lift the device a little at the back. I just took a 1cm thick wooden strip that goes over the entire width of the device.

All right. Do you have experiences or have you ever heard of the Asus Tuf 15? It should have very loud fans and get super hot.

Cooling pads can significantly reduce the temperature of the laptop. However, it should be noted that they also have fans that can become loud under load or, if no temperature control is installed, generate a constant noise level. It is also important that the arrangement of the fans matches the laptop and that the stability is sufficient for a proper stand.

Unfortunately, I only know Asus devices that are very old (15 years or what I know). I can't say much about that. My MSI and the HP Omen are not particularly loud / hot. The things have to stand on a clean, smooth surface, with things like bedspreads they can't do that at all. ^^
