Broken laptop is it hardware or software?

My laptop crashed from 1.60m about 2 months ago and landed on a corner. The corner is completely junk, but I could still use it. After 2 months the screen is simply black. I can hear the laptop working, air tones, LEDs light up, etc. But the screen is simply black. Do you think it's the hardware or the software?

I think it's the hardware, but mine can't be serious, but that a connection has broken.

There's a ribbon cable from the graphics unit on the motherboard around the corner to the display, which is inserted through a clamp connection. That could have come loose in the fall and now fully worked out. If you should loosen the clamp connection, insert the cable again and clamp it firmly again.

Do you think it's because it fell off?

That is quite possible, but who should know for sure. It has to work again, that's important, right?
