Why do files disappear from me?

I installed an old game. Since it is no longer compatible with Windows 10, I used a patch from the Internet. It worked great for me, but when I wanted to install the game on my father's laptop because he wanted to play it, the patch file always disappeared. It was an ELB file that always disappears after a while if you want to add it to the game folder. The fact is that it is a modified version of the actual ELB file, which you then have to replace.

Windows has a compatibility mode. So you can play normal white start. That do not work with Win 10.

Compatibility mode does not work. That's why you have to change something yourself.
