I have a question about Dropbox.
I have the Notability writing program on my iPad, which I use to take notes in lectures. My auto backup works through Dropbox.
I have now backed up all my Notabilty files on Dropbox, but it is in a format that I can't open on my Windows laptop. However, I want to have access to my study documents on both my iPad and my laptop.
That's why I made a new backup in PDF format so that I can also open it on my laptop.
My problem now is that I have every file on Dropbox twice (once in Notability's own format and once as a PDF).
Of course, this takes up a lot of storage space from Dropbox. And since I don't want to delete a format for every single file, I would like to empty my entire Dropbox and then make a complete new backup (in PDF format).
Now my question is, if I remove my files from Dropbox, will they also disappear with my writing program on the iPad? Or do I just delete the backup on Dropbox and the original file that is in the writing program on my iPad is retained?
would of course be stupid if all of my study documents suddenly disappear from the iPad: /
because with iCloud synchronization, I think that if you delete something from iCloud, it also disappears from notability and the other way around.
but how about dropbox?
Dropbox doesn't actually do that…
Do you have offline access to the file? If so, it is most likely a copy on the Dropbox without a sync…
Just make a backup via iTunes and try your luck…
Or just create a rubber on which you can test it…
Hi, thanks for the reply. I was able to delete the backup on Dropbox without deleting my original file in my writing program.
Is that a question or a statement?
As I said, just create a dummy, just write something in it, load it onto the dropbox and delete it again… So you see what happens in the app without attacking your valuable data…
No that was a statement! That means my question has now been answered. I was able to remove files from Dropbox without deleting the files in my writing program.
