I recently looked at notebooks and had a 4GB onboard, 4GB so dimmed.
Is that a good RAM and can it be retrofitted?
If you tell us what you want a PC for and how much money you want to spend, we can give you sensible recommendations and 4 gb ram is long out of date.
The 4GB on-board are soldered, you can't change anything, the other 4 can be seen, the question is how much it can have at most.
"good" or "bad" are completely wrong ratings. It depends on what you want to do with a pc / notebook. A relatively small amount of RAM is sufficient for simple applications, even with windows 10
and whether you can upgrade at all, is in the technical data of the notebook. Usually there are 2 slots so that one of the same type can be retrofitted.
"so dimm" is just a question of format, the type, e.g. DDR 3 or DDR4 and the clock frequency are the most important performance features.
You have to look good or bad for yourself.
8 GB is actually really little, I would take 16 more.
It is seldom retrofittable, it is mostly soldered on.
