I'm looking for a laptop where I will (mainly) produce music.
At the moment I use my PC for this:
Processor: AMD FX-8350 (8x4.0 GHz)
2x Kingston HyperX FURY Blue 8GB DDR3 - 1600MHz
I have now looked at a few laptops on the Internet and I'm stuck on this:
MSI PS42
Intel® Core ™ i7-8550U
8 GB RAM
DELL G3 17 3779 I7
i7-8750H processor
16 GB RAM
DELL XPS 13 9370 SILVER I5-8250U
Intel® Core ™ i5-8250U
8 GB RAM
ASUS S530FA-BQ235T
Intel® Core ™ i5-8265U
16 GB RAM
HP Pavilion 15-cs1313ng
Intel® Core ™ i5-8265U
16 GB RAM
ASUS R520UN-EJ529T
Intel® Core ™ i7-8550U
16 GB RAM
HP ENVY x360 13-ag0005ng
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U
16 GB RAM
When I open the task manager on my current PC and look at the load of the main memory, there's usually (when working) about 7.0 GB (load).
Therefore, 8 GB of RAM would have to be enough in my future laptop, right?
My question now: Does anyone have experience with one of the listed laptops or has more idea and can help me? Or does someone have another laptop tip (should be at max 1000 euro). As I said I will mainly use it to produce music (my current PC does it without problems), but I can't take my PC with me constantly when I'm not at home.
Most people who work in a creative profession use a powerful MacBook with SSD hard drive.
Windows is more for bean counters and accountants!
Jap get your macbook ONE MAC MAC IF YOU WANT TO BE CREATIVE!
The pros use hackintosh with trio boot windows macos and linux lol
There's hardly any software for that!
That depends on which DAW you want to use.
The performance of some DAW is either better on Mac or on Windows PC or worse…
Most Mac users usually use Studio One, Pro Tools or Studio One.
Many Windows users then usually use Ableton or Cubase.
(I currently also use Cubase on a laptop with Windows)
If you have any questions, I'm always happy to help.
Also important is an external sound card that is connected via USB.
Oh what progammiers yourself or just 3 different hard drives / ssds
Thank you
I'm using FL Studio and thinking about switching to Ableton
It's a pleasure
Ever heard of "workflow"?
Programming it yourself…
That should be clear, if he already produces
Why do you complain then that there's no software
What should I do with operating systems where I first have to write a program myself? Time is money for professionals. If you have an operating system for which you get a decent program of your imagination, you have a good "workflow"!
Min of my industry (craft) there are only CAD / CAM application programs for Windows. At the latest after the 3rd update, the calculator goes to its knees. It's all more relaxed on iOS. A friend of mine is a designer and has worked exclusively with Mac since the 90s. He does not know such problems. It looks similar in the music industry. A director I work with from time to time controls the entire stage alone, with lighting, effects, video, etc. With his iBook.
