Hallöchen, I'm flying to Japan this year and would like to plan my itinerary. My dad has recommended the program base camp, so far he has always downloaded the detailed streetmaps on a Dutch website, but unfortunately the site does not work properly anymore or it does not load. Google maps or the like is not in question, because I would like to store first places and then look at a glance on the map to see what I have marked everything, so I can then put together the optimal route.
Anyway, I have now somewhere downloaded a map of Japan, which also works in the program base camp and indicates the streets, however, at closer ranzoomen the street names are somehow Chinese or so, not more Japanese. No idea if that was translated incorrectly or why that is, but where, for example, on the big map "niigata" is a bit ranzoomen suddenly "xingxishi" displayed (although there's no "x" in Japanese). This is really confusing, so I can never plan a trip, if all the places suddenly change so much = (someone who knows the program maybe has an idea of what I can do, or knows another program with If you can plan such a route well I would like to plan on the laptop, not with the smartphone.

If not, the car you will borrow in Japan will certainly include a navigation device that allows you to enter the start and finish. I would ask in advance if you can rent a car that has a navigation device that can be operated in English.

I do not want to rent a car in Japan, it's not so much about navigation, but more about having all of the marked locations at a glance and then thinking about the order in which I should travel the best, what goals would be too detour and therefore not worthwhile, what else is still on the way vlt and which accommodations are, for example, near train station and so.
I've been learning Japanese for about two years and unfortunately it's not enough to read city names correctly. I'll look at the pages anyway, that's better for me than these weird Chinese names, because I have at least an app for Japanese writing, with which I can find out what that city or street is… And in my guide are also Many of these city names are in Japanese AND "German" script, so that might work.
